Nino Player: install and set up IPTV

6 min read

Nino Player is the player we recommend on this site for watching an IPTV subscription on Android, Android TV and Fire TV. Here is how to install it, open an Xtream Codes connection, enter your credentials and tune the picture, step by step.

What is Nino Player?

Nino Player is an IPTV playback app for Android, Android TV and Fire TV. It does not provide content on its own: it connects to the subscription you already own, then displays channels, VOD and the programme guide (EPG) in a single interface.

  • Xtream Codes API protocol: the simplest way to connect, with a URL, a username and a password.
  • Works everywhere: the same player runs on an Android phone, an Android TV box and a Fire TV stick.
  • Built-in EPG guide: the week's programmes appear directly under the channels.
  • Remote-friendly interface: navigation is designed for remote-control buttons, not only for a touch screen.

Why Nino Player is our recommended player

On this site we use it as our reference player because it brings together the features that matter day to day:

  • An Xtream Codes connection in three fields, with no complicated setup.
  • Clear categories (sport, news, kids, VOD) so you do not get lost in the list.
  • A favourites system to reach your channels in one click.
  • Decoder, buffer and subtitle settings available in the player settings.
  • The same app on mobile and on the big screen, so you only learn it once.

One note: Nino Player is developed by an independent publisher. We are not affiliated with that publisher; we simply explain how to install it and use it with your subscription.

Install Nino Player on Android

On an Android phone or tablet, installation goes through Google Play:

  1. Open the Play Store.
  2. Search for Nino Player and open the app page.
  3. Tap Install and let the download finish.
  4. Open the app once to check that it starts correctly.

Install on Android TV and Fire TV (Downloader method)

On Android TV and Fire TV, the Play Store is not always available. The most reliable method is the Downloader app:

  1. Install Downloader from your device's store.
  2. Allow unknown sources: Settings → Security & restrictions → Allow apps from unknown sources (the wording varies with the version).
  3. On Android / Android TV, open Downloader and enter code 2929561.
  4. On Firestick / Fire TV, open Downloader and enter code 1029712.
  5. Confirm, then let Downloader fetch and install the file it offers.

Once the installation is done, the Nino Player icon appears in your device's app list.

Open the app and choose Xtream Codes API

On first launch, Nino Player offers several connection methods (M3U playlist, Xtream Codes API, MAC, and so on). Choose Xtream Codes API: it is the method that requires the least typing and that automatically loads channels, VOD and the EPG.

Enter the server URL, username and password

You need the three pieces of information sent when your subscription was activated:

  • Server URL (Host): copy it exactly, with no space and no doubled “http://”.
  • Username: keep the upper and lower case as they are.
  • Password: watch out for look-alike characters (O and 0, l and 1).

Then confirm with the login button. If a field is rejected, go back through the three values one by one: the most common cause is a space added at the start or the end of a field.

Loading the playlist and the EPG

After you connect, the player fetches the channel list and the guide. The first load can take a little while, especially on a slow connection. Let the refresh finish, then open the EPG guide to display the week's programmes. You can run that refresh again from the player settings if the guide looks empty.

Favourites and categories

To make navigation comfortable, organise your content from the very first use:

  • Add your main channels to favourites so you can reach them in one click.
  • Browse the categories (sport, news, kids, movies) instead of scrolling the whole list.
  • Create your own groups, if the player allows it, to gather channels of the same kind.
  • Check your favourites from time to time: a playlist change can reorder the entries.

Player settings: decoder, buffer, subtitles

Three settings make the difference to picture stability:

  • Decoder: prefer hardware decoding (HW) and, if your device supports it, H.265 (HEVC); software decoding (SW) works as a fallback.
  • Buffer: raise it slightly if your connection is unstable, and keep the default on a wired connection.
  • Subtitles and audio language: set them once and for all in the player settings, then switch track during playback if the stream offers several.

Troubleshooting: empty playlist, wrong date, buffering

  • Empty playlist: check the URL, the username and the password, then reconnect. If the message persists, the subscription may not be active yet.
  • Wrong date or time: fix the date and time zone in the device settings, then refresh the EPG. A shifted guide almost always comes from a mis-set clock.
  • Buffering: lower the stream quality, raise the buffer slightly, switch to Ethernet if you can, and check that only one device is using the subscription at the same time.
  • Black screen: try another stream, change the decoder (HW/SW) or fully restart the device.
  • The app keeps closing: free up storage space, then uninstall and reinstall the player.

Updating Nino Player

A recent version often fixes playback bugs and improves stability. On Android, turn on automatic updates from the Play Store. On Android TV and Fire TV, reinstall the latest version through Downloader with code 2929561 (Android) or 1029712 (Fire TV), then sign in again with your Xtream Codes credentials.

With an up-to-date player, correctly entered credentials and a few adjusted settings, Nino Player becomes a simple way to watch your IPTV subscription on mobile and on the big screen.
