Before you start
Get three things ready: your active subscription (the Xtream Codes credentials sent when you sign up), a stable internet connection, and your TV connected to the network. Also note your LG model and its webOS version, since the available apps vary from one generation to another.
Step 1 — Open the LG Content Store
On your remote, press the Home button, then open the LG Content Store (LG's app store). It's the equivalent of the Play Store, but dedicated to your television.
Step 2 — Install a compatible IPTV player
In the store search, type "IPTV". Depending on your model and region, you will see one or more players (for example apps such as IPTV Smarters, SetIPTV, or other Xtream players). Install the one that is available and well rated.
If no IPTV player shows up, your model is not compatible: go straight to the fallbacks below.
Step 3 — Enter your credentials
Open the app and choose the Xtream Codes API option (or "Login with Xtream"). Enter the three details sent when you signed up:
- The server URL (for example http://server:port).
- The username.
- The password.
You can also load an M3U playlist if your player supports it, but Xtream Codes remains the most reliable method.
Step 4 — Load and test
Let the app load the channels and the programme guide (this can take a minute), then open a channel to check the picture and sound. If the stream is slow, choose another quality in the player settings.
If the app is missing: the fallbacks
- Android TV box / Firestick: the safe bet for IPTV. Plug the device into an HDMI port and install Nino Player.
- From your phone: start the IPTV on Android/iOS and send the picture to the TV via AirPlay or Chromecast.
- An internet provider's box, if it lets you install a player.
Stability tips
- Connect the TV with an Ethernet cable if possible (USB-to-Ethernet adapter on recent models).
- Close any unnecessary apps running in the background.
- On an older model, prefer a dedicated box to avoid overloading the processor.
With a suitable player and the right credentials, an LG Smart TV becomes an excellent IPTV screen — and if in doubt, an Android box set up in 5 minutes does the job.
