1. Wi-Fi (the number-one cause)
The Wi-Fi signal drops with distance, walls and the number of connected devices. If the television is far from the router, the usable speed can fall below the required threshold. Solution: switch the main television to an Ethernet cable, or move it closer to the router.
2. Insufficient or unstable speed
The speed shown by your provider is a theoretical maximum. In practice, stability matters more than the figure. Solution: measure the real speed on the device concerned (not on the phone) and aim for ~10 Mb/s for Full HD, ~25 Mb/s for 4K.
3. A server overloaded at peak times
During a big match, everyone watches at the same time. A service built on dedicated servers (VPS) and anti-freeze technology handles these peaks better than a reseller sharing a single source. Solution: if the drops occur mainly in the evening, it is often on the provider's side — test another channel to confirm.
4. A slow or blocked DNS
A slow DNS server lengthens the time it takes for the stream to start. Solution: configure a fast public DNS in the device's network settings, then restart the player.
5. A device that is too old or overloaded
An old box or Firestick, with too many apps in the background, overloads its processor and memory. Solution: close unnecessary apps, clear the cache, or change device if the hardware is several years old.
6. A subscription shared beyond the number of screens
If two people use a “1 screen” plan at the same time, the server may cut one of the two connections. Solution: respect the number of screens in the plan, or upgrade to a multi-screen plan.
7. A faulty cable or network port
A damaged Ethernet cable or a worn port causes micro-cuts that are hard to spot. Solution: test another cable and another port on the router.
Quick 5-minute diagnosis
- Does the problem affect all channels or just one?
- Does it happen at a specific time (evening / match)?
- Does the Ethernet cable change anything?
- Does another device on the same network also cut out?
- Does restarting the internet router and the player solve the problem?
