What is TiviMate?
TiviMate is an IPTV player intended for Android only. It does not provide channels: it displays the playlist and the guide you give it. Its interface is designed for a television screen and a remote control, with side menus, an EPG grid and fast zapping.
- A player, not a provider: you need a playlist or Xtream Codes credentials to use it.
- TV interface: navigation and menus designed for a remote, not a mouse.
- EPG guide: display of programmes and the schedule grid.
- No iOS version: there is no iPhone, iPad or Apple TV app.
Which devices does TiviMate work on?
TiviMate installs on Android devices:
- Android TV and Google TV: boxes and televisions running Android TV, such as the Nvidia Shield, the Mi Box or a Chromecast with Google TV.
- Fire TV Stick: Amazon Fire TV devices, whose system is based on Android.
- Android phones and tablets: possible, although the interface is less comfortable than with a remote.
There is no version for iOS (iPhone, iPad, Apple TV), and no native app for Samsung (Tizen) or LG (webOS) televisions. On those screens you need an Android TV box or another compatible player.
How do you install TiviMate?
- On Android TV or Google TV: open the Play Store, search for TiviMate and start the installation.
- On Fire TV Stick: use the Amazon Appstore, or install an APK through the Downloader app.
- If you install an APK, first allow apps from unknown sources in the device settings.
- Open the app: the first configuration is done directly on the TV screen.
Some features depend on the app's edition: the free version and the paid version do not offer exactly the same options.
Add a playlist: Xtream Codes or M3U
There are two ways to load your channels:
- Open the add-playlist section in the app.
- Choose Xtream Codes and enter the server URL, the username and the password received at activation.
- Or choose M3U and paste the playlist link you were given.
- Confirm: the channels load and are sorted into groups automatically.
If you use several lists, give them clear names so you can tell them apart.
Set up the EPG and channel groups
The EPG guide shows programmes and their schedule. To get it:
- Fill in the EPG source provided with your playlist, or an XMLTV URL.
- Refresh the guide, then check that the times match your time zone.
- Hide the groups you do not use and reorder the ones you watch most.
- Pin important channels at the top of the list for immediate access.
Favourites, recording and features by edition
- Add your channels to favourites so you can reach them in one click.
- Some editions offer recording and catch-up: their availability depends on the app and on the source.
- Other options, such as advanced guide settings, may be reserved for a paid edition.
Check directly in the app what is included in the edition you are using.
Performance settings: decoder and buffer
- Decoder: start with hardware decoding (HW); switch to software (SW) if the picture stutters or stays black.
- Buffer: raise it slightly on an unstable connection, and keep it low on fibre for faster zapping.
- Display output: match the device resolution to your television.
- Background apps: close them to free up memory.
Navigating with the remote control
- Use the arrow keys to move through the grid and the OK button to confirm.
- The back button opens the side menu of channel groups.
- The info button shows the details of the current programme.
- On Fire TV, the device menu button gives access to extra options.
- Create shortcuts for the groups you watch most often.
Troubleshooting common issues
- No EPG: check the guide URL, refresh the update and verify the time zone.
- Playlist not loading: re-enter the URL, username and password with no spaces, then test the playlist on another device to isolate the problem.
- Buffering: lower the quality, raise the buffer, prefer Ethernet and check that only one device is using the subscription.
- Missing channels: refresh the playlist and check the group filters that are enabled.
- Slow app: clear the cache, restart the device and free up storage space.
